Review: Gareth Emery superb on new ‘Drive: Refueled’ remix album (Includes first-hand account)

Emery’s Drive: Refueled opens with the soothing “Beautiful Rage,” which features the gorgeous vocals from the ever-talented LJ Ayrten and it is followed by Cosmic Gate’s nonchalant remix of “Long Way Home,” which is the epitome of serenity.

It is followed by “Firebird” and “Million Years,” which features Asia Whiteacre. The Walden remix of “Dynamite,” which features Christina Novelli is stellar and it elevates the original track to a higher level.

Other noteworthy selections include “Entrada,” Juventa’s remix of “Javelin,” the Omnia remix of “Lights & Thunder” with Krewella, as well as Luke Bond’s solid remix of “Soldier.”

Emery saves the best song towards the end, and that is none other than the Bryan Kearney mix of “U,” with elegant lead vocals from Bo Bruce. The remix version of “U” is an electronic masterpiece.

The Verdict

This remix album is recommended for any fans of electronic dance music and Gareth Emery. He proves yet again to be at the top of his game musically, and all of these remixes do his music justice. It garners an A rating. Well done.
