Review: From Thin Air soars on new single ‘Oceanbound’ (Includes first-hand account)

Vocally, their first nationwide single “Oceanbound” is reminiscent of Blink-182’s “What’s My Age Again” meets Matchbox 20 meets The All-American Rejects (“Dirty Little Secret”), and that ought to be taken as a compliment, especially since it has that retro 90s vibe that is missing on the modern radio airwaves. The tune has strong melodies and it is radio-friendly, with infectious drumming. “Oceanbound” is a track on their upcoming studio album Masquerade, which will be out on March 10. Their CD was recorded at the legendary Shirk Studios and Monarch Studios in Chicago.

Their lead single “Oceanbound” was co-penned by the four band-members, which include Ethan Gilbert on vocals and guitar, Jeremey Silva on guitar, Joe Fox on bass and Mauricio Jara on drums.

The group is comprised of four young musicians from the Denver area, and they have drawn comparisons to such noteworthy and popular musical acts as Fall Out Boy and 5 Seconds of Summer.

Their song’s music video may be seen on YouTube below:

The Verdict

Overall, From Thin Air’s new song garners 4 out of 5 stars, and it is the quintessential introduction to their craft. They showcase a great deal of potential to make it bigger in the music industry. Fans ought to give this band more than just a passing glance.
