article imageReview: Francesco Yates displays unique sound on new single 'Call' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Aug 22, 2014 in Music
Teen singer-songwriter Francesco Yates released his single "Call" and it is already shaking things up in the music industry.
Yates is originally from Toronto, Canada, and he is a musical prodigy of many talents: he write songs, sings and plays multiple musical instruments. He is signed to Atlantic Records.
Music superstar Pharrell Williams, best known for his multi-week chart-topping single "Happy," has praised Yates as a prospective "huge pop star" but "not in the way people have been thinking of pop music in the past 10 years." It is safe to say that Pharrell's description of the rising singer is accurate.
"Call" was produced by Robin Hannibal and it was c-written by Yates and Matt Morris; moreover, the music video for the song is directed by DJay Brawner. The song has a pulsating beat, which is infectious, and vocally, one could not tell that Yates is only a teenager. His vocals are piercing, smooth and he showcases his falsetto.
He possesses an old soul and displays elements of a young Justin Timberlake, who has heard the tune and dubbed it "the summer jam of 2014." The song has elements of pop, dance, R&B and soul music.
"Well it's cold, it's cold, it's cold here next to you, And your close enough to hold me, but not to tell the truth, babe," Yates sings.
The Verdict
Francesco Yates will definitely get the listener's attention with his new single "Call." It is authentic, pure and soulful. The single earns an A rating, and the Canadian native deserves to become the next big teen sensation.
