article imageReview: Florida Georgia Line back with rocking new album 'Anything Goes' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Oct 19, 2014 in Music
The wait for Florida Georgia Line fans is over. Their latest album "Anything Goes" came out on October 14, and it rocks.
The album was released via their record label, Republic Nashville, and it was produced by their long-time producer Joey Moi. The duo co-wrote five out of the album's 12 songs.
It opens with the title track song "Anything Goes" and it is followed by the laid-back "Sun Daze," the latter of which would make a great summer tune. As its title states "Good Good" is indeed a feel-good, rocking track and they shine on their lead single, the bittersweet ballad "Dirt," which recently topped the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts and rightfully so. It is no wonder that it became the duo's fifth chart-topping single.
"Smile" is uplifting and yet another radio-friendly tune, which will resonate well with their fans, especially their female listeners. "Lay your pretty head on my shoulder, For a while and find your jam on my radio dial, Girl all I want, is just to see you smile," they sing.
Ballad fans will certainly enjoy "Sippin' on Fire," "Bumpin' the Night," "Angel" and the delightful "Smoke."
It closes with "Like You Ain't Even Gone" and the upbeat "Every Night," the latter of which would make another fitting choice for a radio single.
The Verdict
Overall, Florida Georgia Line is solid on their latest studio album. There is no sophomore slump here, and it is a pleasant musical effort. It is a substantial indication that the Country Music Association (CMA) award for "Vocal Duo of the Year" will be theirs in a few weeks, since they are unstoppable. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
