Review: Faith No More rocks New York’s Webster Hall with high-energy show (Includes first-hand account)

This concert was in support of their latest studio album, Sol Invictus, and it lasted a little less than two hours.

Their set consisted of such vocals as “Land of Sunshine” and it was followed by “Caffeine,” “Evidence” and their signature song “Epic.” Mike Patton proved to be a very charismatic lead vocalist.

Other noteworthy tunes included “Sunny Side Up” and the electrifying “Surprise! You’re Dead!” coupled with a psychedelic delivery of “Midlife Crisis.”

Patton displayed his rich vocals on “Last Cup of Sorrow” and “The Gentle Art of Making Enemies” was upbeat and energetic. They were able to dust off The Commodores’ “Easy” and make it their own.

They continued with new material from their Sol Invictus album such as “Separation Anxiety” and “Superhero,” while throwing the haunting “Ashes to Ashes” in the mix, which was also well-received.

Faith No More treated their fans to two encore performances, which included “Sol Invictus,” as well as “As The Worm Turns” and “This Guy’s In Love With You,” prior to concluding with yet another new track, “From The Dead.”

The Verdict

Overall, Faith No More rocked Webster Hall, showcasing their versatility as a rock band. The New York audience gave them a warm reception and made the iconic band feel at home. Their show garnered 4.5 out of 5 stars.
