King’s music video was released today, and it encompasses elements of pop, blues, country and rock and roll. “America’s Sweetheart” was co-written by King and Martin Johnson (Boys Like Girls), the latter of which also served as her producer. The video has an upbeat vibe to it with a retro feel, especially since it was filmed at a roller skating rink at Moonlight Rollerway in Glendale, California. Director Noah Conopask did a solid job with its direction.
“America’s Sweetheart” is the follow-up to her smash breakthrough single “Ex’s & Oh’s,” which went on to earn two Grammy nominations for “Best Rock Performance” and “Best Rock Song.” Her debut song has also been certified double-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
