article imageReview: Eli Young Band rocks on latest country single 'Dust' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Sep 1, 2014 in Music
Country group Eli Young Band is back with their latest single "Dust," which is already a Top 20 hit on country radio, and climbing.
It was co-penned by Jon Jones and James Young from the Eli Young Band, as well as Kyle Jacobs (Kellie Pickler's husband) and Josh Osborne. "Dust" is their sophomore single from their fifth studio album, 10,000 Towns, the latter of which garnered a favorable review from Digital Journal.
Mike Eli's lead vocals on "Dust," are reminiscent of fellow country singer Will Hoge, which ought to be taken as a major compliment.
It is an optimistic and liberating tune backed with neat electric guitar instrumentation and soaring drums. "She's fighting back tears, she's fighting back years, Of the only life she's ever known, And there's a future that's bright in the dead of this night, And all she's gotta do is go," Eli sings.
The chorus for "Dust" is one of the most infectious heard on radio at the moment, which goes as follows: "She's got the pedal to the floor in a hand-me-down Ford, Yeah, the only thing that's left to do
Is catch a couple green lights and those baby blue eyes, Are leaving nothing in that rear view, But dust, nothing but dust."
The Verdict
Eli Young Band's "Dust" is their best single to date. It deserves to go to No. 1 similar to how their previous singles "Crazy Girl," "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" and "Drunk On You" all reached the top of the Billboard country charts. "Dust" earns an A rating.
