Review: Demi Lovato refreshing on new music video ‘Cool for the Summer’ (Includes first-hand account)

Lovato looks as stunning as ever in the song’s music video. It is the lead single from her upcoming studio album. She co-penned the song with such songwriters as Max Martin, Ali Payami, Alexander Erik Kronlund and Savan Kotecha. Martin also served as the single’s sole producer.

In various instances, Lovato’s laid-back and breathy vocals are reminiscent of New Zealand songstress Lorde. It has a neat synth beat, which is infectious and compliments the song’s production quite well, displays Lovato’s versatility as a recording artist. Her single encompasses elements of pop, rock, electronic dance, alternative and adult contemporary.

“Take me down into your paradise, don’t be scared cause I’m your body type, just something that we wanna try
cause you and I, we’re cool for the summer,” Lovato sings.
