article imageReview: David Allen Buckner spectacular in first StageIt virtual concert Special

By Markos Papadatos     Apr 25, 2015 in Music
Country singer David Allen Buckner performed his first, intimate StageIt virtual show on April 25, and it was a major success.
He played in his living room in his Nashville apartment, and accompanied himself on acoustic guitar. It featured his original recordings, as well as cover songs that he learned.
"Hope ya'll are excited and ready to go," Buckner said. He began his set with an impressive cover of Garth Brooks' "Fishin' In The Dark." It was followed by a stirring rendition of Blake Shelton's "Ol' Red," which displayed his wide range and high notes.
Buckner tipped his hat to veteran country star George Strait by covering "Give It All We Got Tonight," and it is safe to say that he made the country king proud. He continued with his original song "Hard To Write a Love Song," which was well-received.
"How ya'll liking it so far?" Buckner asked. "Are you guys having a great time?"
He delivered a raw, acoustic version of Eric Church's "Like Jesus Does" and his cover of "Red Light" was just as good as the David Nail original.
Brett Eldredge's "Mean To Me" was the quintessential love ballad in his set, and he nailed it. He returned for an encore, where he changed the pace to old school country with Keith Whitley's "Don't Close Your Eyes," and he was able to please the modern country fans with Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise."
The highlight vocal of his set was his original "Tough Love," which he wrote three years ago, which was based on his experiences in Iraq. For the entire duration of the tune, he was able to rip out his heart, hand it to the audience, and allow them to feel the authenticity of its lyrics. It was that powerful.
Tyler Farr would have smiled upon his version of the rebellious "Redneck Crazy." "Thank ya'll for the request," he said. "It means a bunch."
He closed with Lionel Richie's soul classic "Easy" and yet another original tune entitled "Another Breakup Song."
"Hope ya'll like the StageIt experience," he said. "I think it's fun and intimate," he added, praising his StageIt virtual concert.
The Verdict
Overall, David Allen Buckner was wonderful during his first StageIt show. His vocals were warm, moving and from the heart. His passion for country music was conveyed throughout his entire set. His show garnered an A rating, and he deserved to be signed by a major record label, or at least an independent label with a major distribution. His talent is too big to ignore. Bravo.
