Review: Danielle Bradbery soars on sassy new single ‘Friend Zone’ (Includes first-hand account)

“Friend Zone” is a fitting tune to release towards the end of the summer, and for the start of her fans’ academic school year and the upcoming football season. There are some clever sports analogies (example: touchdown, sideline) in its lyrics.

“You think you’re doin’ just fine, but oh, she got you on the sideline, You think you’re flyin’ towards the end zone, You’re just headed towards the friend zone,” Bradbery sings, in her euphonious voice.

Best known for her Top 12 hit single “The Heart of Dixie,” Bradbery co-wrote the song with songwriters Mikal Blue, Johan Lindbrandt and Shari Short. It features instrumentation from banjos and drums, where the listener can recall a marching band, similar to a Phillip Phillips tune.
