By Markos Papadatos     Aug 3, 2014 in Music
New York - Hit country duo Dan + Shay opened for country superstar Blake Shelton on August 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
This was part of Shelton's "Ten Times Crazier Tour 2014" and they shared the stage with Neal McCoy and The Band Perry.
Shay was dressed in a black leather jacket, black shirt and black pants, while Dan wore a jean sleeveless jacket, white shirt and jeans. Their stage backdrop consisted of their name in large print. They are signed to Warner Music Nashville and they played songs from their debut studio album, Where It All Began.
The fan-favorite vocal was their breakthrough single "19 You + Me," which they incorporated as a crowd sing-along. "New York City, sing this as loud as you can," Dan said midway through the song.
Dan rocked the acoustic guitar and harmonies, while Shay displayed his dynamic vocal range at the end of the tune, showing off his ability to nail the high notes.
They closed their set with their latest radio single "Show You Off," which is already at Top 35 hit on country radio. They commenced the tune with whistling vocals and they had the crowd clapping along with them.
The Verdict
Dan + Shay were able to warm up the stage and get New York Country fans energized for The Band Perry and Blake Shelton. Their harmonies were glorious and impressive; moreover, their vocals were reminiscent of award-winning country group Rascal Flatts and if they keep recording songs in the caliber of "19 You + Me," they may very well reach their level of success. Their mini-concert garnered 4.5 out of 5 stars. Good job boys.
