Review: Reba soars on empowering new single ‘Going Out Like That’ (Includes first-hand account)

This marks her first new music in over a four-year period. Her new song is all about female empowerment, so it bound to please her female fans and listeners. Reba’s twang and energy are infectious on this spitfire single. The tune was co-written by such acclaimed songwriters as Ben Hayslip, Rhett Akins and Jason Sellers.

“You’d never know she was going through a break up, There ain’t a single tear messing up her make up,” Reba sings.

“Going Out Like That” is the lead single from her forthcoming studio album on her new label, Nash Icon Records, which is expected to be released in April of 2015. Reba is the inaugural artist to sign on this new label, which is a joint venture between the Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) and Cumulus.

This June will be quite busy for Reba. The country superstar will join forces with Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn (from the country duo Brooks & Dunn) to launch a residency show in Las Vegas at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

The Verdict

Overall, Reba’s new radio single “Going Out Like That” is anthemic, upbeat and sassy. It is very radio-friendly and it has all the ingredients necessary to become another major radio hit for the country songstress. She proves to be like fine wine, where she only gets better with age. Reba sure knows how to rock after all of these decades in the music industry. It garners an A rating.
