By Markos Papadatos     Jun 10, 2014 in Music
Country newcomer Chris Lane released his debut single "Broken Windshield View" to country radio on June 10, via Big Loud Mountain.
Lane is serving as the opening act for country duo Florida Georgia Line as part of their "This Is How We Roll Summer Series" tour, along with special guest rapper Nelly.
He has been an integral part of the country music scene in North Carolina, selling out club gigs across the state. He has played over 500 concerts the past few years, opening for such musical acts as The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Lee Brice, Chris Young, Brantley Gilbert, among others.
His song "Broken Windshield View" is featured on SiriusXM's The Highway and it is highlighted as "New and Noteworthy" on iTunes. It was produced by acclaimed producer Joey Moi, who has worked with such artists as Jake Owen and Florida Georgia Line. Songwriters Rodney Clawson, Shane Minor and David Lee Murphy.
In the song's lyrics, the male narrator gives us a glimpse of his life in a small town from a "broken windshield view," and many listeners can relate to this tune, especially the ones from the south. "I'm out here ridin' high on a lift kit, I see the world through a crack where a rock hit, I am who I am, I do what I do, Lookin' at life through a broken windshield view," he sings.
The Verdict
"Broken Windshield View" has a great deal of energy, and it is fun and radio-friendly, with a rock vibe to it. Vocally, it is reminiscent of Florida Georgia Line ("Cruise") meets Dierks Bentley, and it has some neat hooks. It is a guitar-fueled, up-tempo tune. Lane deserves to be the next big country rocker, similar to such artists as Brantley Gilbert and Thomas Rhett. For a breakthrough single, it garners 4 out of 5 stars.
