article imageReview: Chase Rice energizes country fans at The Emporium in New York Special

By Markos Papadatos     Apr 21, 2014 in Music
Patchogue - On April 15, country singer Chase Rice played a show at The Emporium in Patchogue, New York, where he was backed by a full band.
He opened for country star Sara Evans and he shared the stage with country group Natalie Stovall and the Drive. It was presented by local country radio station, "My Country 96.1 FM."
He engaged the crowd as he sang a fun and upbeat drinking tune "I Like Drinking, Cause It's Fun" and Rice did justice on his cover of country star Luke Bryan's "Drunk On You," which he commenced on acoustic guitar.
As he sang "Look At My Truck," the stage was graced in green lights, and he gave a shout-out to Long Island country radio station 96.1 FM.
Rice had the audience waving their hands in the air on "How She Rolls" and the highlight song of the evening was his version of the smash hit that he co-penned with Florida Georgia Line, "Cruise." It was a neat jam and he was able to incorporate the Nelly rap segment in there as well.
He closed his set with his current single Top 35 country single "Ready Set Roll."
The Verdict
Overall, all three musical acts did a great job performing at The Emporium stage, but Rice's performance was distinct in particular. This marked my second time seeing him in the Long Island area over a two-year time period. He had previously opened for country singer Kellie Pickler at The Paramount in Huntington, New York, back in August of 2012, where he had played solo with his acoustic guitar. He had put on a remarkable show back then, but his performance tonight with his full band was superb. He was a lot more comfortable than before and commanded the stage by interacting well with his audience, as he showcased his inner country-rocker. Well done Chase.
