Review: Calum Scott eloquently covers Ella Henderson’s ‘Yours’ (Includes first-hand account)

His soaring vocals are powerful and crisp at the same time, where the listener can recall Sam Smith meets Adam Levine from Maroon 5. Scott maintains great control over his voice, and allows his personality to shine throughout the cover, to the point where he truly makes it his own.

The music video for Scott’s cover song was filmed and edited by Astor Production, and it has a neat orchestral arrangement to it, which was arranged by Sing King. The dancer in the video, compliments Scott’s singing, and helps him bring the song to life.

“I would fight my strength to untape my mouth, When I used to be afraid of the words, But with you I’ve learnt just to let it out, Now my heart is ready to burst, Cause I, I feel like I’m ready for love,” Scott sings.

The Verdict

Overall, Calum Scott’s cover of Ella Henderson’s “Yours” is compelling and it garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. The British songbird herself would be extremely pleased of his delicate and sultry rendition, and based on a recent tweet to Scott, Henderson approves of his version. Scott pours his heart out on this song, while displaying his talent and wide range as a recording artist.
