article imageReview: British sensation Katy Tiz causes a 'Big Bang' in pop music Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jun 7, 2014 in Music
British pop songstress Katy Tiz has released her new radio single "The Big Bang," via her record label, Atlantic Records.
The song is making its way up the Top 40 radio and the Top Pop Songs charts and it has been featured on Clear Channel/iHeartRadio. "The Big Bang" has peaked in the Top 100 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
Tiz earned recognition from Clear Channel/iHeartRadio as an "On The Verge" artist for March of 2014. It is a track from her forthcoming album, which will be out later this year.
It was written and produced by Rock Mafia, the production and songwriting duo that originally recorded the song back in 2010, and they scored a massive hit with the tune in their own right. They have worked with such artists as Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus.
Particularly impressive about Tiz's version of the song is that she takes the original and gives it her own twist. Its lyrics are wry and it consists of laid-back, reggae-inspired beats. Her vocals are distinct, crisp and reminiscent of such artists as Miley Cyrus and Adele. The whistling heard in the song is addicting, making it hard to get out of one's head upon hearing it. Her music is different than most songs heard on the pop airwaves, making her a true standout.
Many listeners can relate to its positive and feel-good chorus. "The big, big bang, The reason I'm alive, When all the stars collide in this universe inside," Tiz sings.
The Verdict
If Katy Tiz's new CD is anything like this single, then she ought to look forward to a promising future in pop music. It would make a great choice for a summer anthem tune due to its sassy and fun nature. It garners 4 out of 5 stars.
