article imageReview: Brett Eldredge back with new stunning single 'Mean To Me' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jul 4, 2014 in Music
Country singer Brett Eldredge is back with his brand new single, the love ballad "Mean To Me," which officially gets released on country radio on July 14.
Eldredge co-wrote the song with Scooter Carusoe, and it was produced by Luke Laird. It is a track on his debut studio album Bring You Back, which is a flawless collection of musical work.
In the song's lyrics, Eldredge uses vivid imagery to describe what a special girl means to the male narrator. Such images include "the wine in your glass," "the swing on your porch," "the dollar in your pocket," and "the peaceful in your sleep."
Other stand-out and beautiful lyrics from the chorus include, "Oh, if falling's how you feel, And perfect is what you see, Then I'd be what you mean to me."
From an instrumental standpoint, it is not over-produced, and Eldredge accompanies himself on acoustic guitar. This is a song that ought to be enjoyed for its simplicity and eloquence. One of my favorite versions of the song, is the one Eldredge sings below in the outdoors, where he is surrounded by natural serenity.
His two previous singles, "Beat of The Music" and "Don't Ya" both reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts.
The Verdict
Overall, Brett Eldredge is one country artist that can do no wrong. His latest single "Mean To Me" is magical, similar to all of the songs on his album. Eldredge sings from the heart and allows his music to speak for itself, without any gimmicks. He is a true gem and his record label, Atlantic Nashville, recognizes outstanding talent. I would not be surprised if this tune becomes a staple for wedding ceremonies this summer. It garners an A+ rating, and it deserves to be his third consecutive No. 1 hit.
