Review: Big Time Rush’s James Maslow covers ‘Thinking Out Loud’ (Includes first-hand account)

Maslow covers the song in an acoustic fashion, accompanying himself on acoustic guitar, and he dubbed it as “one of his favorite songs” out at the moment. His vocals are rich, soothing and controlled.

This version ranks high up there, along with his renditions of Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again” and Jason Derulo’s “Want to Want Me.”

Aside from his singing and being a television star on Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush, he was a finalist on Dancing with the Stars, where he was partnered with professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd.

The Verdict

Overall, James Maslow is able to make any cover song his own, and he has proven that with every song that he has covered thus far. This rendition of “Thinking Out Loud” garners an A rating. Hopefully, he will keep these cover songs coming.
