article imageReview: Armin van Buuren is back with new video for 'Ping Pong' track Special

By Markos Papadatos     May 3, 2014 in Music
World renowned Dutch DJ and electronic music producer Armin van Buuren is back with his latest music video for his track "Ping Pong."
It was posted on May 2 on his official YouTube channel. The video's concept is witty yet clever and it should not be taken seriously. What people may not about the song is that it started out as a joke, especially since the track was never intended for release, however, since it instantly became a fan-favorite in his live shows, Armin and his team decided to release it. I am glad they did since it showcases his wide range as a musician and producer.
The video consists of a few Asian ping pong players throughout and it basically encourages all people to pursue their hidden talents, and put their best foot forward in moments that matter most. The victory dance of the protagonist is a neat treat. Armin himself makes a cameo in the video at the 3 minute and 30 second mark, dressed as a secret agent, which is an added bonus. The song has a playful and uplifting vibe about it, where you cannot help but smile.

The song "Ping Pong" was certainly a highlight in his April 11 concert in New York's Madison Square Garden, since he had the crowd on their feet, especially when the large yellow smiley-faced balls fell from the ceiling and bounced throughout the venue, energizing fans and enhancing their excitement.
The Verdict
Whether it's a remix for Idina Menzel's "Let It Go," or a sold-out show at New York's Madison Square Garden as part of his "Armin Only: Intense" world tour, Armin does not disappoint and that holds true with his latest video for "Ping Pong."
Better yet, this is a song that needs to be experienced in his live shows, which prove that Armin is one of the hardest-working DJs and producers in electronic dance music. He is consistently out there putting out new releases on a regular basis and giving his fans what they want and they inevitably love him in return.
I would not be surprised if this EDM tune is used as a theme song for ping pong tournaments worldwide in the near future. The song and its music video garner an A rating.
