article imageReview: Andy Grammer soars on pleasant new single 'Back Home' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Apr 3, 2014 in Music
Esteemed singer and songwriter Andy Grammer released "Back Home," the lead single from his upcoming sophomore studio album.
Throughout his career, Grammer has shared the stage with such artists as Colbie Caillat and Taylor Swift, among many others. His debut single "Keep Your Head Up" has been certified platinum and his follow-up single, the infectious "Fine By Me" went to the Top 10 on adult pop charts and was subsequently certified gold; moreover, his third single "Miss Me" was a Top 15 hit on adult contemporary radio.
His latest single "Back Home" will be available on iTunes on April 8 and it impacts adult pop radio in May.
The song itself is joyous and uplifting and it is extremely well-written, bringing out the rawness of its lyrics. His vocals are slightly reminiscent of Nate Ruess, the lead singer of the acclaimed pop band Fun ("Some Nights"). It showcases his tremendous growth as a songwriter, as well as his maturity as a vocalist and the versatility of his craft. I think it would make a great exit song for a future season on the reality singing competition, American Idol. Many of his fans will find the tune sentimental, catchy and nostalgic. It garners an A rating, and it is great to hear new songs from Grammer.
