This acoustic concert was in support of their upcoming studio album, as well as their recent partnership with Wendy’s, which exclusively released the band’s new track “Right Here Right Now” on their Facebook and Twitter pages earlier this week.
“What’s going on?” Zac Barnett asked. “Welcome to our record label. It’s exciting to be here. It’s kind of fun,” he added, prior to opening their set with the title track of their new album “What We Live For,” which was upbeat and fun, with an a cappella ending. Most impressive was the fact that the band was able to nail it simply with two acoustic guitars, drums and a banjo, as well as Barnett’s velvet vocals. “Thank you,” they said, following its warm reception. “Much appreciated.”
It was followed by their new tune “Right Here Right Now,” which was used in the Wendy’s commercial. They noted that this partnership was quite nostalgic for the band, since they grew up with Wendy’s and they had many fond memories in the Wendy’s parking lot. They continued with another new song, the mandolin-driven “Pride,” which featured their strong harmony vocals as a group.
American Authors also took time to answer any questions that the intimate group of audience members had, which showcased their laid-back and mellow personalities.
“You guys are awesome,” they praised their intimate crowd, prior to closing with their signature anthem “Best Day of My Life,” as everybody was singing along with them.
The Verdict
Overall, American Authors did a superb job performing their new material at Island Records in the heart of Manhattan. This acoustic show was a substantial indication that their forthcoming studio album is very promising, and they are all incredibly talented musicians. Their acoustic showcase garnered an A rating.
