She released her breakthrough single "Bright Side" to country radio this week. Although I was unfamiliar of Veltz and her musical work initially, it took one listen of "Bright Side" to blow me away. It is a track from her forthcoming debut album
Allison’s Wonderland.
The southern belle co-wrote the song with creative partner Dan Muckala and Jess Cates. The tune is produced by Muckala, as well as esteemed producer Mark Bright, who has worked with such artists as Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire and Sara Evans.
"Bright Side" is an infectious and mellifluous tune, where her vocals are reminiscent those of such songstresses as Danielle Bradbery and Kimberly Perry (from The Band Perry), coupled with the tranquility of Alison Krauss. It is quite uplifting due to its optimistic message of dealing with the ups and downs that life throws at you. The song garners an A rating, and it is worthy of the repeat button.
A native of Mobile, Alabama, Veltz will be playing at New York's Rockwood Music Hall on April 12, and judging from this single, this is a show that should not be missed.
