article imagePop singer Kady Z talks new EP 'Ordinary Girl' and future plans Special

Pop songstress Kady Z chatted with me about her newest EP "Ordinary Girl," as well as her songwriting inspirations for the project.
Regarding the song selection process for her Ordinary Girl EP, she remarked, "All of the songs are from the original album, Ordinary Girl, but I chose my favorite ones. It was definitely tough," she admitted.
Her latest album drew influences from such acclaimed songstresses as Robyn and Gwen Stefani. "I actually heard some 'acoustic' versions of a couple of Robyn's songs, and I was so inspired by them. It definitely gave me the idea to experiment with my songs! I hired a quartet for 'Save me from Yourself,' it sounds so cool. I am obsessed," she said.
Kady Z added, "I think there are a lot of different themes such as coming of age, darkness and light, loss of innocence and love. It really revolves around loving and losing and having the courage to let yourself be and embrace that. It sounds cliche, but we all go through it every day, no matter who we are or where we come from. Hence the title, 'Ordinary Girl'."
Her songwriting for her newest EP was based about her personal experiences in life, love and heartbreak. "Ordinary Girl, as an album, is about my journey through finding love for the first time, getting out of an abusive relationship and learning you've finally grown up when you realize you know absolutely nothing about anything. So, the EP is kind of the 'cliff notes' version," she said with a smile.
While it was difficult for her to select a favorite track from the album, she said, "'Save me from Yourself' has this concerto-pop vibe going that is so exciting, but 'Drown you Out' is just me and a piano and is so laid back and melancholic. It's very easy to get sucked in," she said.
Her breakthrough single "Beautiful Disaster" made the Billboard Hot 100 charts, due to its catchy nature. "Yeah, that song gets in your head for sure!" she exclaimed.
Kady Z revealed that her plans for the future are quite busy, especially since she will be working on new music, where she will be collaborating with ToneFef, her co-writing partner and producer. "I am very excited," she said.
