New pop and trending artist Jessi Malay will release her debut EP "Give Me Life," which features "Do Not Disturb," a tune which she filmed a music video for.
She was previously in a girl group that was signed to Warner Music and she left to go to UCLA, in an effort to finish her education before returning as a solo performer.
The new EP consists of nine tracks. "We just started writing about love and lust and we came up with this EP. I previously released the four last songs last year, but the first five are new, and they are all a little love story," she said.
Her video for "Do Not Disturb" is the "raciest video and track" that she has put out to date. "It's an R&B record that deals with lust and that video was fun to do. I am really excited about it," she said.
Malay covered Grammy winner John Legend's "All of Me," which was highlighted by media personality Ryan Seacrest for his "March Music Madness" series. "That was awesome. I love that song ever since the very first time I heard of it. I wanted to do a cover of it since it is one of the most beautiful love songs I've heard. We released it around Valentine's Day and it caught the attention of Ryan Seacrest and he put it in a contest on his site which is really cool and I am really grateful for his support," she said.
Aside from being a singer and dancer, she has a fashion blog entitled "My White T," which has become a go-to source for fashionistas, which includes makeup tutorials, beauty tips, as well as personal fashion and outfit picks. "I decided to start my own blog since I wanted to show people what my style is and it is going so well. People are coming to me now to style their videos and I am loving it," she said.
Most striking about Malay is that she bears a strong physical resemblance to global superstar Jennifer Lopez. "I have been getting that every day since I was 12 years old," she said with a sweet laugh. "Jennifer Lopez is an amazing talent and a great woman, so that's definitely a compliment, but I am trying to set myself apart."
She shared that her music is a "fusion" of "pop, dance and R&B and samba influences." Malay listed Robin Thicke as her dream male duet choice in music. "Robin is talented, so cool and he has that laid-back confidence," she said. "I met him last year and he was the sweetest man."
