Paradise Fears delivers great pop music from South Dakota

By Kathleen Creighton     Aug 11, 2014 in Music
South Dakota? Really? Absolutely, and they are touring it around the U.S. and Canada right now. They have also released a new single, "You To Believe In."
In the small town of Vermilion, SD, friends Sam Miller (vocals), Cole Andre (guitar, vocals), Michael Walker (keys, vocals), Jordan Merrigan (guitar), and Marcus Sand (bass) came together and started making truly great pop music. Paradise Fears was born. They loved what they did and that passion attracted the attention of people who appreciated their efforts. That gave them the energy and revenue to self-release two EPs and two full-length albums. Touring with Parachute and All Time Low helped to continue the growth of their fan-base. This year they were able to cross the Atlantic and tour in the UK. 2014 also saw the band progressing to being signed by DigSin, a label out of Nashville, TN.
Paradise Fear devotees in the Minneapolis area were treated to "You To Believe In" spinning on 101.3 KDWB shortly after they and all the other PF fans who voted got the band into the top five of Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star Contest. Before those MN fans get to hear the song live though, Paradise Fears is bringing their headlining tour to rest of North America. With Hollywood Ending, Against the Current, and Nick Thomas (of The Spill Canvas) this tour kicked off in the hometown of additional tour-mate, William Beckett – Chicago, IL on August 6th. It will wrap in Minneapolis on September 27th.
Frontman, Miller speaks of Paradise Fears accomplishments to this point. “After hundreds of small steps, ‘You To Believe In’ and signing to DigSin feels to us like the first really big step of our career. Musically, it's right where we want to be - moving people with the arrangement & challenging people with the lyric. It walks a cool line between unwarranted optimism & uncontrollable cynicism - just feeling so happy-sad. The story of my 20's, thus far.”
The tour and the single should draw even more well-deserved attention to Paradise Fears. Listen here or look them up on Spotify and decide for yourself. If you agree, go here, and click on the "Tour" link to find the closest stop and order tickets.
