article imageOp-Ed: Top 5 Christmas songs of all time

By Markos Papadatos     Dec 25, 2015 in Music
Digital Journal ranks its Top 5 Christmas songs of all time. Which holiday classics do you think made the cut? Read on to find out.
Mariah Carey comes in at No. 5 with "All I Want for Christmas Is You." She rocked this performance at the Beacon Theatre in New York.
At No. 4 is Bing Crosby and David Bowie's "Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy," which is sheer vocal perfection. It feels like two classics in one, and both artists have created a true holiday masterpiece.
At No. 3 is Darlene Love with "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," which she recently performed at the Landmark on Main Street in Port Washington.
Country queen Martina McBride comes in at No. 2 with her live, a cappella version of "O Holy Night," which she performed at the Grand Ole Opry a few years prior. She also performed this holiday classic as her closing song in her "Joy of Christmas" shows.
When all is said and done, Brenda Lee is still at No. 1 with her perennial classic, "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree." She proves year after year and decade after decade that this song will always stand the test of time. It is never officially Christmas, until this song is played on the radio airwaves each year.
