Country sensation Martina McBride was nominated for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by veteran country music star, George Strait, who is known as "King George" in the genre.
Strait is the reigning "Entertainer of the Year" winner by both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) and the Country Music Association (CMA).
McBride graciously accepted his challenge, and gathered her band and crew to participate as well. In return, the passed the challenge along to her husband and sound engineer, John McBride, as well as her Grammy-winning producer Don Was (for her latest album Everlasting), Dave Stewart (best known from the Eurythmics) and Pat Monahan, the lead singer of the rock band Train.
The funds raised from this challenge aid the ALS Association, which is working towards finding a cure for Lou Gehrig's disease, and it was become a viral phenomenon ever since.
The powerhouse country vocalist will be out on tour, bringing her "Everlasting" tour to the fans. She will be performing at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury in Long Island, New York on October 9. This is one New York show that music fans should not miss, especially since McBride possesses one of the best angelic voices, according to Digital Journal.
Her "Team Martina" charitable team works hard towards spreading the healing power of music, in an effort to help the world. Earlier this month, they surprised children at a hospital along with the Bacon Brothers, and they had launched a campaign this past spring to help the Covenant House, a Guatemalan orphanage, among other fund-raising efforts.
