Nashville - The Country Music Association (CMA) announced that the iconic southern rock group, Marshall Tucker Band, will play at this year's CMA Music Festival.
Their official kick-off concert will take place on the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage on June 4, the day before the official start of CMA Music Festival, which is a four-day event that takes place in downtown Nashville, from June 5 to June 8.
"The Marshall Tucker Band's performance at CMA Music Festival last year generated so much enthusiasm with Festival fans and became such a highlight of last year's event that we are proud to announce that their legendary sound will be part of our 2014 CMA Music Festival Kick-Off Concert lineup," stated CMA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Trahern in a press statement.
The Marshall Tucker Band made their debut in 2013 to a huge crowd at the Walk of Fame Park. The officials from the CMA concurred that moving the southern rock group to the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage was a "natural choice."
Lead singer and founding member Doug Gray from Marshall Tucker Band shared in a press release, "During a year of real winners in country music, we have been given another sweet invitation to kick-off CMA week. We are very proud to again be a part of the biggest festival in country music. We've recently been mentioned in some new hit songs from several young stars and we're so grateful for all the love pouring in from Nashville. Our 2014 'Take The Highway Tour' is headed to CMA Fest this June!"
The Marshall Tucker Band has been mentioned in such hit singles as Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise," as well as Lee Brice's "Parking Lot Party."
In March, they played a concert at The Paramount in Huntington, New York, and they delivered a superb performance as Digital Journal previously reported.
Their CMA Music Festival performance is one of many stops on their 2014 "Take The Highway" tour. The band will continue to play shows throughout the year. They are true road warriors, performing over 120 concert venues by the year's end.
