Lorde has been very busy lately. The New Zealand-based pop star will be curating the soundtrack album for the third instalment of "The Hunger Games" franchise, entitled "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1."
The multi-platinum star will also provide the first single for the highly-anticipated film and album. This soundtrack will be available via Republic Records this fall.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1 was directed by Francis Lawrence and it stars Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson. It is the latest installment in Lionsgate's global box office phenomenon that is based on Suzanne Collins' best-selling The Hunger Games trilogy. The new film will be released in theaters worldwide on November 21.
The 17-year-old New Zealand songstress, who is also known as Ella Yelich-O'Connor, will be embarking on her third national North American tour this fall. For a complete list of tour dates, visit her official website.
Lorde's breakthrough single "Royals" has been certified quadruple platinum and it earned her two Billboard Music Awards for "Best New Artist" and "Best Rock Song," as well as two Grammy awards for "Song of the Year" and "Best Pop Solo Performance." She holds the record for the longest No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 charts by a female artist in 2013 and the longest-standing No. 1 for any female artist in the history of the Billboard Alternative charts.
She is in the running for two MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) for her debut single and video for "Royals." These two categories include "Best Rock Video" and "Best Female Video," where she is vying alongside Beyonce, Iggy Azalea, Katy Perry and Ariana Grande.
