Las Vegas - Country singer Lee Brice has a lot to be proud of yesterday night. His emotional song "I Drive Your Truck" was named "Song of the Year" at the 2014 Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards.
It prevailed over nominated songs by such artist as Gary Allan ("Every Storms Runs Out of Rain"), Miranda Lambert ("Mama's Broken Heart"), Blake Shelton ("Mine Would Be You") and Darius Rucker ("Wagon Wheel").
The ACM award went to Brice, as well as the tune's songwriters Jessi Alexander, Connie Harrington and Jimmy Yeary.
"I Drive Your Truck" was previously honored as "Song of the Year" at the 2013 Country Music Association (CMA) awards this past November.
A Curb recording artist, Brice performed the song live, in an emotional acoustic performance that resonated well with the ACM audience, making it one of the most moving vocals of the evening. It is a track on his Hard 2 Love album.
This year, Brice garnered five ACM nominations, including one in the coveted "Male Vocalist of the Year" category.
