article imageKendall Schmidt from Heffron Drive talks acoustic album Special

By Markos Papadatos     May 2, 2015 in Music
Big Time Rush's Kendall Schmidt chatted with Digital Journal about his newest acoustic album with his electro-pop duo Heffron Drive (with Dustin Belt).
Regarding their new acoustic Happy Mistakes (Unplugged) album, Schmidt said, "I listened to a lot of Taking Back Sunday Yellowcard, and some of my favorite records were their acoustic albums. It was appropriate for us to make an acoustic album as well. Dustin is doing great, and we had a great album release party. It was a really good show and we had a blast."
Schmidt listed "Passing Time," their collaboration with Logan Henderson, and "Had To Be Panama" as his two favorite songs on the album, and he praised the latter tune for its warm feel; moreover, he is extremely proud of the arrangement of "Nicotine."
Their plans for the future are to continue pushing this new album. "It is doing better than our first album, and honestly, I have been hearing people saying that they are enjoying better than the 'Happy Mistakes' CD due to its stripped-down arrangements and since it shows my vocal ability and dynamics," he said.
James Maslow from Big Time Rush had nothing but great words for Heffron Drive, and Schmidt reciprocated his kind words. "James is the man. He has always been supportive of my Heffron Drive, and actually all the guys have. James came to the album release party and that really meant a lot to me. The support from the guys was really palpable," he said.
Schmidt subsequently praised Logan Henderson for helping his vocals on "Passing Time." "He is such a great singer, and he is one of my best friends. The fact that he showed up, recorded the song and was really committed to it meant a lot," he said.
Their performance together may been below on Shine On Media's YouTube page, which was filmed at The Mint in Los Angeles, California.
