Atlantic recording artist and pop singer Katy Tiz chatted about her new single "The Big Bang," which is a remake of the Rock Mafia original tune.
On her new single, Tiz remarked, "It was originally a Rock Mafia song that they wrote and produced and released independently, but they never released it to radio. A friend of mine put me in touch with them and told me that it would really suit me. He put me in the studio and they are an amazing team. We recorded the song, and we were off to the races."
"The Big Bang" is off to a great start, reaching the Top 100 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, as well as charting on the Top 40 Songs charts and the Top Pop Songs charts. "I love that and I am so happy about that," she said.
She noted that her music is "essentially pop," with "reggae influences" as well. "I grew up listening to Norah Jones, Alicia Keys and India.Arie," she said.
Clear Channel/iHeartRadio listed her as an "On The Verge" artist for the month of March 2014. "It was incredible. I cried like a baby," she said graciously. "Their support has been unbelievable throughout my entire career. When the song is played on the radio, it gets me every time. It shocks me."
A British songstress, Tiz had nothing but great words for her record label, Atlantic Records. "I am proud to be a part of that group. There isn't a single member on their staff that I have met that I did not like. They are amazing and so supportive. I couldn't ask for a better team."
Her vocals on "The Big Bang" have earned her comparisons to pop mega-star Miley Cyrus, which is quite flattering for Tiz. "I have had a couple of people say that to me, and I take that as a massive compliment. I think she is amazing," she said.
Regarding her future plans, she shared, "I am on a promo tour promoting 'The Big Bang,' and then I will be going back into the studio, to work on a second single. We also have the video coming up in the next 10 days, so I am really excited about that."
Tiz listed acclaimed rapper Eminem as her dream male duet choice. "I want to work with Eminem. I love him. He is amazing," she said with a sweet laugh.
