Los Angeles - Demi Lovato caught the Staples Center crowd off guard, on September 27, when former "Camp Rock" castmate and Jonas Brother, Joe Jonas, joined her on-stage.
Before being joined on stage by Jonas, Lovato announced that she would be starting "so long ago Saturday," with her forthcoming performance. Fans weren't aware of what song was about to begin, but Lovato asked them if they wanted to hear a "really old song," and by the roar of their cheers, the audience happily agreed. It wasn't until the beginning introduction of "This Is Me," from Lovato's debut breakout movie, Camp Rock, began that the crowd realized what she was about to perform. Almost unable to believe that she was in fact performing the older track, Lovato immediately erupted in laughter, only to announce, "This is really happening."
Midway through the performance, Joe Jonas accompanied Lovato on stage, for his part in the duet of "This Is Me / Gotta Find You," which was made famous by their Disney Channel movie, Camp Rock.
Camp Rock originally premiered on the Disney Channel on June 20, 2008, with Lovato starring as Mitchie Torres, who got the chance of the lifetime to attend "the prestigous musical camp, Camp Rock." Joe Jonas played Shane Gray, who was a pop-star who returned to the camp of his childhood, in hopes of finding inspiration and to clean up his attitude.
The 2008 Disney Channel original movie was reportedly watched by 8.9 million viewers on the night of its premiere, subsequently making it the third highest viewed DCOM at the time. At the time of the premiere of Camp Rock, only High School Musical 2 had beaten the Jonas Brothers and Lovato film in numbers, with a total of 17.2 million viewers.
After the Camp Rock sequel was made — Camp Rock 2 — Lovato and Jonas briefly dated, according to US Magazine. Considering how the two completed their performance holding hands, it appears as though the exes remain friendly and on good terms.
