article imageJochen Miller talks 'Fearless' album and electronic dance music Special

By Markos Papadatos     Apr 28, 2015 in Music
DJ and producer Jochen Miller chatted with Digital Journal about his latest studio project "Fearless," as well as his future plans and love for electronic dance music.
He is drawn electronic dance music since it is not limited and it is not confined by rules or defined by structures. "The not-having-to-choose an instrument, you can create one if you'd like. You can just let your creativity take you by the hand, and see where it takes you, and that never gets boring," Miller said.
Regarding the song selection for his new studio effort Fearless, he said, "When selecting songs for the 'Fearless' album, I wanted to be able to showcase my diversity, and present both 'songs' with vocalists on the one hand, and some genuine club-smashers on the other. The album is a very good representation of my taste in dance music, of which I hope it will appeal to others as well."
When asked about the origin of the track "A Million Pieces," he explained, "I had composed a demo which got sent out to Hansen by my publisher. When Hansen's first raw vocals came in, I was over-the-moon, and it inspired me to completely restructure the initial demo, I worked around his enchanting lyrics, and that's how we got to the track as it is featured on the album."
For Miller, it is extremely difficult to select a personal favorite song on the record. "I will state the obvious. It's impossible to choose which of your eight children you love most. Every track has it's own story for me, so I'm only curious to find out which track you like most," he said.
Regarding his plans for the future, he said, "At the moment I'm quite busy with all sorts of exciting stuff this album brings, such as shooting the video for 'Fearless,' doing photo-shoots, choosing artwork, interviews and checking out the remixes. I've started working on new material for after the album, as it is all so inspiring."
He hopes to be back in New York City later on this year, and he listed Lady Gaga as his dream female collaboration choice. "Even though she's a bit under the radar at the moment, I have rarely seen and heard such a creative and talented artist. Working with her would be a dream come true," he said.
For his fans, he said, "I hope the album appeals to you, and that you find one of your new 'memory-making' songs on it. Maybe even say in a few years: Remember us sharing our first kiss or dancing to 'Fearless' or 'Slow Down' in that summer of 2015."
Miller defined success as "Being able to do what you love most and getting appreciated for it. That has nothing to do with fame or money. If I can put my all in a song and have people tell me they love it, that's the biggest success of all."
