article imageInterview: Zac Brown Tribute Band opens up at Mulcahy's Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jun 26, 2016 in Music
Wantagh - The Zac Brown Tribute Band sat down and chatted with Digital Journal at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh on Long Island.
On performing at Mulcahy's, Pete Frank said, "I love it here. This place has been really, really good to us, and they are a great group of people to work with."
Aside from all of the popular Zac Brown Band tunes, they are covering songs by such artists as Ray LaMontagne ("Jolene") and Metallica ("Enter Sandman"), among others. "That's the fun thing. We play a lot of the covers that Zac Brown plays live, so we can reproduce whatever sound his band is going for. We have the personnel to do that and it's fun," Mike Kedley said.
The tribute band is made up of Pete Frank on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Matthew Stephens on rhythm guitar and harmony vocals, Danny Roelle on drums, Tim Hull on bass, Joey Saliceti on keyboards, Jeremy Laursen on electric guitar, as well as Mike Kedley on fiddle.
The Zac Brown Tribute Band has been around for 3.5 years, and they are originally from Rochester, New York. "We started practicing in October of 2012," Pete said. "We are the only seven-piece band."
Regarding their plans for the future, Jeremy Laursen said, "We are going to keep playing and we are going to keep learning more Zac Brown tunes, and keep plugging away."
Fiddler Mike Kedley listed Dolly Parton and Susan Tedeschi as his dream female duet choices.
