Interview: Thomas Gold talks Miami, new album, tour and future (Includes interview)

On being in Miami, Florida, as part of this year’s Winter Music Conference, Gold said, “It’s amazing. I love to be here, and it’s my eighth year in a row. This is the week that you get the best impression of how the industry is doing, since everybody is here. There are so many DJs playing and so many different styles, clubs and venues. I love Miami because of its beaches, the weather, food and the drinks. It is fun to be here every year.”

Gold is in the middle of his U.S. tour, and he will be putting out an album by the end of the year. “It’s going to be very different sound-wise from what I normally do. I am going into a more pop edge, with a radio and dance direction. The album is not going to be EDM at all. All of the tracks are based on real songs and we have vocalists on the album. I have a bunch of tracks together and I am really excited about this project. It is a very new experience,” Gold said.

As part of his “On Fire” tour, Gold revealed that he will be performing at Space Ibiza NY on April 22 in New York City.

When asked where he sees the future of electronic dance music, Gold said, “I think it is going to evolve a little bit, and it will go back to smoother and softer sounds. Four or five years ago everything was very groovy and melodic.”

Gold shared that he has played in Mykonos, Greece. “I played Paradise Club, and I can’t wait to go back. It is amazing. All the food, the vibe and the islands are amazing,” Gold said.

Success for Thomas Gold is when one’s dreams are realized. “I would consider myself as a successful person, since I am making a living doing music,” Gold said.

For his fans, Gold concluded, “Thank you for all the support. It is amazing to see the great reaction to my music. That’s why I am actually making music: to see the happy faces, and people having fun.”
