By Markos Papadatos     Mar 31, 2014 in Music
Scott Stapp, the lead singer from the acclaimed rock band Creed, chatted about his upcoming solo concerts in New York and New Jersey.
As the front-man of Creed and as a soloist, he has sold well over 40 million albums worldwide; moreover, he was the recipient of a Grammy award for "Best Rock Song" for his moving ballad "With Arms Wide Open."
On April 2, he will be playing at Irving Plaza in New York City. "I am really excited about my new album 'Proof of Life' so I will be playing the majority of that album. I have been playing songs from my entire music catalog and my entire career. The fans have been really excited and they have really been into the shows. It has been an awesome experience so far," he said. "I have always loved playing in New York."
Stapp will also be performing at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey, on April 5. "That is another venue that is a part of the rock and roll tour. I love to play there since I have a lot of great fans in that area. Starland is nice. I am really looking forward to bringing the show there," he said.
"I am delivering the songs like they are on the record with high-energy and drama and the emotional journey that enables me to take the fans on. It's exciting and it is powerful," Stapp added.
Regarding his future plans, he revealed, "Right now, I hope to take this show all over the world. I am headed to Europe towards the end of April and then I hope to tour again in the United States through the summer and in South America and then back to Europe and the rest of the world. I am really enjoying being out on the road and playing this music live, and sharing the musical journey with everybody."
For Stapp the reviews of his live solo shows have been quite remarkable and he is in top-notch form vocally and mentally. "The band has been playing really well and up to this point, my voice and my body have been handling things really well, so we have been able to deliver this music strong and powerful, which is exactly how you want to do it as a rock and roll band," he said.
He shared that he is motivated by his love for music and his love for live performing, as well as the challenge of playing them live every day. "I try to raise the bar of my live performance and to share the journey I have had in this life and hope to connect with people through music," he said.
Stapp has an excellent support system at home, thanks to the guidance and support from his wife, Jaclyn. "My wife helps me hold it all together," he said. "She has been a life-saver for me and my best friend and somebody that has taught me what real love is and she shows that every day. She is awesome."
The gracious rocker concluded by thanking his fans for "coming on the ride" with him. "Thank you for inspiring me and for being there with me and for connecting with me through the music. It's a powerful connection. I love and appreciate each and every one of you," he exclaimed.
