Interview: Ruth B talks new EP ‘The Intro,’ future and Ed Sheeran (Includes interview)

Regarding the song selection process for her latest EP The Intro, Ruth B said, “I picked the first few songs that I had really ever written. I thought that would be a good introduction and also I think the four songs go well together.”

When asked to choose her personal favorite song on the collection, Ruth B responded, “I love each song for different reasons. They all carry different memories for me. I think ‘Two Poor Kids’ is the most feel-good song and I had a really fun time writing it. It was very cool to see the world from someone else’s eyes.”

She had nothing but the greatest remarks about her recent signing to the Columbia Records family. “It feels great! Columbia is home to so many incredible artists so to be a part of that is super cool,” she said.

On her plans for the future, she said, “Right now in the forefront of my mind is live shows. Playing all over the place and getting real face-time with the people who support my music, and then of course a full album sometime in 2016.”

Most impressive about Ruth B was the fact that she was discovered on Vine. “That was really awesome! I think Vine is so great and I’m glad that I had my start on there. It really challenged me to be as creative as I could. Six seconds isn’t a lot of time so you can either wow people or not. It’s actually taught me a lot,” she said.

The songstress listed British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran as her dream male duet choice. “Ed has been a favorite of mine for a long time now. I respect his writing so much and that voice,” she said.

For her fans, Ruth B said, “Thank you for all the support thus far. It has been so great getting to know them and it is so amazing to see how much they are embracing my songs! Can’t wait for the future.”
