Interview: Max Frost talks new ‘Intoxication’ EP, future plans (Includes interview)

“I am super-excited about the new EP,” he said. “That was the first time playing for a lot of people in front of the label, debuting the new music. I felt that it went over well.”

Regarding the song selection process for his new EP, he said, “I basically wanted to pick things from the new record and arrange them in a way that made sense, in a short amount of time.”

When recording in the studio, Frost feels like a football coach, while when he is singing live, he feels like a football player. “Both take a lot of practice and they relate to the same game, but one is way more demanding of your coordination. There is an obvious connection since good football players usally make good coaches,” he said.

Each day, Frost is motivated by his desire to come up with something that he has not heard before. For aspiring musicians, he recommended they write something that people have not heard of before. “There should always be a risk in what you are doing. If it’s completely safe, then it’s probably boring,” he said.

Frost defined success as “Making something that is truly real and unique.”
