article imageInterview: Jackie Lee talks country single 'She Does' and career Special

By Markos Papadatos     Sep 29, 2014 in Music
Rising country artist Jackie Lee chatted about his new single "She Does," which was released on his label, Broken Bow Records.
On the origin of his new single "She Does," he explained, "I was writing in a publishing company in Nashville, and I heard the song being played down the hall, and I poked my head in, and the lady had told me that somebody had it on hold. I told her that I would love it someday, thinking there was no way I would ever get it. Two weeks later, she called me up, and told me that the song wasn't cut, so I took it to Benny Brown and he fell in love with it. We put it a month later on the record, and it was everything I wanted it to be. I really believe in it so much, and I am really thankful to have it."
"She Does" was co-written by songwriters Neil Thrasher and Kelley Lovelace, and it was the No. 1 most-added song on the radio airwaves with 40 first-week adds.
He loves the country music genre because of its "loyal fans." "I love country music by itself, but the actual fans still support the artists. They still go out and buy the records and I love that about country music," he said.
Being on a label like Broken Bow Records is an "insane" feeling for Lee. "I am so blessed to be with those guys. They are the hardest-working bunch in Nashville. I have seen them work first-hand. The whole time they are on the computer or on the phone trying to make it work," he said.
Lee's goals for the future are to become a successful artist. "I want to focus on today, and make today the best we can," he said.
He had nothing but the kindest words for fellow country star Easton Corbin and all of his support. "Easton has been so good to me. He has really been a friend, and he has asked me to go out with him and hang from time to time. He's a great guy," he said.
Lee was inspired musically by his father, who was unable to make it professionally himself, yet it to safe to say that his father's dream is very much alive in the eyes of his son, Jackie. "My father taught me that if you are not a fan of what you are doing, you are going to burn out. I love country music so much, and I am getting the opportunity of a lifetime and I am beyond thankful that I get to do this. My father and I talk every day, and we cannot believe that I get to play music for my job and that's pretty spectacular," he said graciously.
Lee listed Ariana Grande, Dolly Parton, Danielle Bradbery and Lee Ann Womack as his dream female duet choices. "I love Ariana Grande. Dolly is from where I am from in Tennessee, and I have always wanted to do a collaboration with her. Another one of my favorite singers is Lee Ann Womack. love her. Danielle Bradbery is super-sweet and she has a beautiful voice and I would love to do something with her sometime," he said.
