article imageInterview: Andrew Rayel talks new EDM album 'Find Your Harmony' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Sep 30, 2014 in Music
Atlanta - Acclaimed electronic dance music (EDM) DJ and producer Andrew Rayel chatted via phone with Digital Journal, prior to his set at TomorrowWorld in Atlanta, Georgia.
Rayel is drawn to the electronic dance genre due to the fact "that music brings all people together. While I'm playing my music, lots of people come together and they share this passion and this feeling. You can see all the emotions in their eyes, and I love that I can make them happy."

The Moldovan DJ and producer shared that Find Your Harmony (Armada Music) was a concept that he created a few years back. "It took me almost two years and from the beginning I knew that I wanted to create something special. I really wanted to create a history, so every song has a history behind it. I did a special intro and a special outro. I really wanted to tell something to people through my album, Find Your Harmony," he said.
Rayel added, "At the first look, many fans think that Find Your Harmony is about finding their harmony in music. All I wanted to say through this album, is basically for the fans to find their love and their destiny and the special thing in their life that will make them happy. That's what it is all about."

While it was extremely difficult for Rayel to select a favorite track from his 18-song collection, a few that stand out to him include "Dark Warrior," the introduction, as well as "One In a Million." "I think I love them all equally," he said. "I had this idea for 'One In a Million' a year ago, and when I started to work on my album, I had a special folder, and every time I came up with an idea, I saved it in that folder. 'One In a Million' was one of those ideas. I had many versions of that song, but I love Jonathan Mendelsohn's voice and I sent him my demo. He recorded that whole version within a few weeks," Rayel said.
Regarding his collaboration with Armin van Buuren, "EIFORYA," Rayel remarked, "In January of this year, Armin and I came up with this melody, and we started to work really fast on it. It took us two weeks. We worked on it the whole day and the whole night for two weeks, and one weekend we came back and it was finished, and it was done. It was so easy to work with Armin."

Rayel praised his label, Armada Music, for being his "second family." "They are so good and they give me advice all the time. Even Armin advises me what to do all the time. They support me so much and it's like a big family," Rayel said.
Speaking of Armin, he has proclaimed Rayel as "the future of trance music." In return, Rayel acknowledged that he is a bit nervous with that comparison. "This puts some pressure on my shoulders," he said with a laugh. "When they tell you, you are the next thing, it kind of makes me feel that I have to give them something really special, and the music does not work like that. So, I'm honored that they think that, even though it is a little bit hard."
Rayel is hard at work on the remixes of Find Your Harmony, and he will be releasing many singles over the next few months. "We are trying to create a concept for a bigger show in the next year, and hopefully, next year you will see me with a bigger show," Rayel said.

On August 3, Rayel played a show at the Marquee Dayclub in Las Vegas. "That was a really good experience, because in my whole DJ career, I haven't had that many pool parties. There were people dancing and I played during the day, which is also something new for me, since I usually play during the night. It was great. I loved it. I think I will be back soon to Marquee," he said.
The 22-year-old electronic dance music star complimented Emma Hewitt for being one of the best female vocalists in the dance genre, and shared that he would love to someday collaborate with her. "I would really love to do a track with her. I have been dreaming about this for many years, and we finally met a month ago, so hopefully we will start working on something soon," he said.
Rayel defined success as achieving "great shows, my own shows and lots of great albums and great feedback from the people."
For his fans, he concluded, "Thank you so much to all of the fans for their support and for all of their love they send me through social media and during the live shows. I hope to see everyone soon somewhere around the world."
