article imageIggy Azalea breaks Billboard record with 'Fancy'

By Markos Papadatos     Jul 4, 2014 in Music
Rapper Iggy Azalea spends her sixth consecutive week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts with her single "Fancy," and she shatters a record doing so.
Azalea's song is now the longest-reigning No. 1 single by a female rapper in history. She breaks rapper Lil Kim's previous record for her Grammy-winning cover of Patti LaBelle's "Lady Marmalade," which she sang as a collaboration with such songstresses as Mya, Pink and Christina Aguilera. "Lady Marmalade" spent five weeks at No. 1 on those charts.
"Fancy" is a collaboration with British singer-songwriter Charli XCX, who is featured on the hook. It has charted for 17 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It is a track from her latest album, The New Classic, and both Azalea and Charli XCX co-write the song together.
Her song "Fancy" does not mark her only presence in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts for the week of July 12. Azalea collaborates with Ariana Grande on "Problem," and that song sits at No. 3 on the charts.
Azalea is an Australian recording artist and model originally from Mullumbimby, New South Wales. She is signed to Island Def Jam Records.
