Hardwell talks Marquee New York, future plans, EDM awards (Includes interview)

On performing at Marquee New York, Hardwell said, “It’s great, and it’s actually my first time playing Marquee. I love New York. I have such great memories. New York has always been supportive of my music so I am really happy to be back.”

He is on the “Revealed: North American Bus Tour” along with fellow DJs and producers Thomas Newson and Kill The Buzz. “I love this bus tour. It’s amazing. We don’t have to wait in airports, and we are just on the bus. It’s like one big living room with a PlayStation, and it is so much easier than traveling by plane,” he said.

Hardwell’s plans for the future include a residency at Ushuaia Ibiza, and he is working on his second studio album. “There’s a lot of new singles coming out this year,” he hinted.

He was named “Best DJ in the World” by the prestigious DJ Magazine in both 2013 and 2014, which was an incredible feeling for Hardwell. “That feels amazing, definitely. I am really grateful and blessed and thankful to all my fans that support my music,” he said.

This year, Hardwell received multiple nominations at the upcoming International Dance Music Awards (IDMA) awards. “I am really excited with what is going to happen in three weeks from now,” he said.

Hardwell is drawn to electronic dance music due to its “energy and unity.” “It doesn’t matter which culture or religion you are from, dance music is one of the most universal things on earth,” he said.

Each day, Hardwell is motivated by his dedicated fans. “They definitely motivate me to continue what I am doing right now,” he said.

He stays connected with his fans via his social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. “Everything is through social media right now. I treat my fans as a second family, and I always try to stay in touch with them. It’s all about the fans. Without the fans, I wouldn’t be here right now,” he said.

Aside from his musical accomplishments and accolades, the Dutch producer is extremely proud of his foundation, United We Are Foundation, since it affords him the privilege to give back. “We put on a really big show in India and we raised money for education for the youth in India, and that’s the most beautiful part of being successful. Being able to have the power to give something back to the people,” he said.
