Throughout his journey in music, Tribbett’s commitment to pure messages of hope and the live music experience have led him to break a string of hit records that led him to the moment where he walked on stage at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards and walked off winning two Grammys for Best Gospel Album, “Greater Than,” and Best Gospel Song, “If He Did It Before (Same God).”

A family man at heart, Tribbett took time out of his busy schedule to share about his passion for music and what is up ahead for him in exciting projects to come.

Exclusive Interview with Grammy Winning Artist, Tye Tribbett:

Q: What was it like winning Best Gospel Album and Best Gospel song at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards for your project “Greater Than”?

Tribbett: It was Amazing! I’m Grateful! The goal behind the entire album was to scream to the world that “God is Greater Than Anything!”. Winning Best Gospel Album and Best Gospel song last year was definitely a life changing experience.

Q: Who is your inspiration as an artist and performer?

Tribbett: I’m inspired by music, family and life in general. I love and respect Stevie Wonder. I think that his music is so wonderful. It’s timeless.

Q: What new musical projects are you currently working on in studio?

Tribbett: I am working on several collaborations with a number of my industry friends this year such as Israel Houghton, Michelle Williams and others, and those records are going to be amazing. I’ve got the recording itch, and I’m eager to record my next record later this year!

Q: Are there any creative projects that you are working on outside of music that you’d like to share?

Tribbett: Creatively, my team keeps me going! Together we work to keep Tye Tribbett Worldwide engaged and relevant on all levels. Of course, we will offer The Chosen mentorship – a music mentorship initiative again this year, along with creative partnerships with the Children Hospital of Philadelphia and the Make a Wish Foundation. We also are in negotiations with several great opportunities in television and radio! You just got to stay tuned for what’s next! What’s coming is going to be absolutely incredible.

Q: You continue to pioneer Gospel in your approach to taking the expression of praise to new levels and dimensions. How do you see Gospel evolving as a contemporary musical style?

Tribbett: For me, I just do what I am called to do, the way that I’m called to do it! From Thomas Dorsey (the father of Gospel Music) until now, gospel music has always been about a man expressing his love for God from his heart in his own way.

Q:What artists do you enjoy listening to?

Tribbett:I love listening to great music. If it’s good; if it’s meaningful, I enjoy listening to it. I’m a music lover.
