article imageGareth Emery reflects on decade, offers inspiration for New Year

By Markos Papadatos     Jan 2, 2016 in Music
Electronic music star Gareth Emery reflected on his official Facebook page about the struggles over the last decade, and offered advice for the hopeful dreamers.
In his Facebook post, Emery noted that 10 years ago, he was broke and nearly gave up making music. At that time, he made less than minimum wage, he had no girlfriend, still lived with his parents, while his friends were all better off than him with regard to career prospects, salaries and houses.

Most shocking is the fact that Emery remembers going three months without a single show, and there wasn't a single club or festival in the world that wanted to book him. He was told by his closest friends, family members, other DJs and his agent that it would be best to give it up.
After realizing his weaknesses and turning things around, Emery acknowledged that things turned out better than he imagined. He used the time off to create his pod-cast, which consisted of 300 episodes which would become "Electric for Life," which promoted his biggest solo show of his life.
Fast forward ten years later, after working hard every day of his life ever since, Emery revealed that he has an "incredible family, amazing career" and everything he ever wanted.
Emery shared that his best music is yet to come, especially with his new album, and he offered inspirational advice for the people who might be where he was ten years ago, which is simply to never give up. "So however dark things may seem now, and however much you might want to give up on your dreams (whatever they are), DO NOT GIVE UP," he posted. "So happy 2016. Go out and crush it and finish the year a step closer to your dreams, whatever they may be," he concluded.
