Eurovision 2015: Final 10 countries chosen for grand final

The 10 semi-finalists chosen to go through to Saturday’s Grand Final are (in alphabetical order) Azerbaijan (Elnur Huseynov with “Hour of the Wolf”), Cyprus (Giannis Karagiannis with “One Thing I Should Have Done”), Israel (Nadav Guedj with “Golden Boy”), Latvia (Aminata Savadogo with “Love Injected”), Lithuania (Monika & Vaidas with “This Time”), Montenegro (Knez with “Adio”), Norway (Mørland & Debrah Scarlett with “A Monster Like Me”), Poland (Monika Kuszynska with “In the Name of Love”), Slovenia (Maraaya with “Here for You”) and Sweden (Måns Zelmerlöw with “Heroes”).

Seven countries — Czech Republic (Marta Jandová and Václav Noid Bárta with “Hope Never Dies”), Iceland (María Ólafsdóttir with “Unbroken”), Ireland (Molly Sterling with “Playing with Numbers”), Malta (Amber with “Warrior”), Portugal (Leonor Andrade with “Há Um Mar Que Nos Separa”), San Marino (Michele Perniola and Anita with “Chain of Lights”) and Switzerland (Mélanie Réne with “Time to Shine”) — failed to qualify in Semi-Final 2.

Ten countries qualified on Tuesday, having been voted through in Semi-Final 1, and seven countries have automatically qualified for this year’s Grand Final: the 2014 winner, Austria; the Big Five (countries responsible for majority-funding the event), France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom; and Australia.

The running order for this weekend’s Grand Final is as follows:

Australia has been invited to take part by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), as part of the contest’s 60th-annivesary celebrations and are expected to do well. Sweden, who won the contest in 2012, are the favourites to win again this year. If they do, it will be the sixth win for them: 1974, when Abba performed “Waterloo”; 1984, Herreys did the honours with “Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley”. 1991, with Carola singing “Fångad av en stormvind”; 1999, with Charlotte Nilsson perfoerming “Take Me To Your Heaven”; and 2012, when Loreen triumphed with “Euphoria”.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2015 Grand Final is set to take place on Saturday, May 24, live from the Wiener Stadthalle in the Austrian capital, Vienna.
