article imageDolly Parton rocks Glastonbury, has dog 'Dolly' named after her

By Markos Papadatos     Jul 6, 2014 in Music
Country queen Dolly Parton played Glastonbury one week ago, to a spectacular turnout of 150,000 people. An abandoned dog was found there that was named in her honor.
The BBC has reported this was the largest viewing audience ever of Glastonbury, which tuned in to see Parton take the stage during their live broadcast.
After the Glastonbury festival was over, workers commenced the cleaning process and they found a fluffy white dog that was left behind. The dog was immediately named "Dolly" as it characterized Parton's beauty, love, peace, and sweetness, all of which she conveyed to her fans a few days prior when she played the Pyramid stage. When local media became aware of this incident, and the search for the dog's home had began, it was quickly nicknamed "Doggy Parton."
When the country songstress heard the news herself, she noted her plans of adopting the dog, in the event that is original owners are not found.
"I had my manager, Danny Nozell, call the Happy Landings Animal Shelter to make sure the dog is being treated and cared for properly," Parton remarked in a press release. "At this time, nobody has claimed the dog and the dog is in great hands at the shelter. I will take the dog home to America if nobody claims her within a reasonable amount of time."
Parton is an entertainer who always manages to surpass her own personal best. Her latest studio album, Blue Smoke, has fared well on the UK charts, where it landed at No. 4 in its fourth week of release, her all-time highest position on those charts. She originally entered the chart at No. 6, which at the time, was her highest-ever chart position.
As Digital Journal previously reported, Parton was awarded a plaque for selling over 100 million albums worldwide.
