article imageDash Berlin talks 'We Are (Part 1)' CD, single and future plans Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jul 24, 2014 in Music
World renowned DJ and electronic dance music producer, Dash Berlin, chatted about his upcoming studio album "We Are (Part 1)," his "Here Tonight" single and future plans.
His new full-length album will be out on August 29 on Armada Music, which is home to acclaimed DJ and producer Armin van Buuren. "From the starting point actually, where we left off with 'Music is Life,' we just took it all from there. We started making music for eventually a part I album of 'We Are,' and there is a part II already in the making," he said. "I met one of the collaborators super-randomly at the airport and after being at a show of mine at Ibiza, we kept in contact. We started sending each other music back and forth and eventually 'Here Tonight' came out, which is my most recent single and it is doing fantastic. Sometimes, you just run into people and you get in contact and one year later, you have a track together and you are making a music video, and that's just how crazy and how cool it can get. I am very happy with the result and the hype is definitely out there. I cannot wait for the album to actually hit the streets."
The Dutch DJ added, "Everything is looking very promising. There is a huge tour coming up for 'We Are,' which is accompanied with bigger shows with live vocalists and that is going to be amazing. It is a super-exciting time."
He had nothing but the kindest words for his record label, Armada Music, and he acknowledged that they are all a big family there. "They have been a really big importance from the very start. It is like a family to me. Armada consistently has been very helpful and important. The fact that they are also from the Netherlands also helps with the language barrier," he said.

"Here Tonight" is a collaboration with Collin McLoughlin. "When I heard the first version of the song, I thought it had a lot of potential, so we started working on that, and we eventually we needed to find a fitting vocalist for that track. We got in contact with Collin McLoughlin, a very new and promising vocalist from Los Angeles, and we thought he instantly fit on the track that we produced.
He listed his current single "Here Tonight" as one of the highlights on the record. "It really stands out and it's still Dash Berlin 2.0, and I want to go that way style-wise and sound-wise," he said. "I also like 'Shelter' with Roxanne Emery, the sister of Gareth Emery. It is a really beautiful track and special, because it is more of a song on the album which has no beats."
Dash Berlin added, "I love melodies. I think in most cases, a vocal is the cherry on the whipped cream for a track, and it compliments great music."
In 2013, he was ranked No. 10 on DJ Magazine's Top 100 poll, proving that he is still one of the best DJs and producers in the world. "When we started with Dash Berlin, I didn't have a job, so I had no expectation where life would have brought me. I am in a very privileged position where a lot of people are supporting me from all over the world, and granting me a position in the DJ Magazine list is unreal. There are so many idols and iconic DJs on that list that I look up to and they opened up the roads for guys like me," he said.
Particularly impressive about Dash Berlin is that he is the most-recurring resident DJ at Marquee Nightclub & Dayclub in Las Vegas besides Kaskade.

He revealed that he will be a part of this year's Electric Zoo in New York. "I had stepped out of the bandwagon for Electric Zoo for one year, so I missed it then, although the year before I filmed the video for 'Fool For Life' there. There was nothing as amazing as that. If you look at the video, the images speak for themselves. I really got overwhelmed with the amount of energy at that time, so I am really looking forward to going back to my New York 'Dashers' to see them again and have a great party at Electric Zoo," he said.
The esteemed electronic dance music producer and DJ defined success as "the appreciation of people liking what I do." "I can only be really thankful for that, and try to push it as hard as I can, and I will," he said.
Dash Berlin concluded, "I love connecting with my fans before the show, at the show and after the show. I know a lot of them personally and I try to keep up with my social media as much as I can. That's my way of keeping people up-to-date. I love interacting with people all over the world. It takes away so many boundaries, doing what I do, and that's super-cool."
