Darlene Love talks Long Island show, future plans for 2016 (Includes interview)

On performing at the Landmark on Main Street, Love said, “It feels great here. This is actually my fifth trip here, so it is always great. The people always have a great response. They don’t come in dead, they come in alive and expecting a lively show, and that’s what makes it so great.”

She just released her new album, Introducing Darlene Love, on Columbia Records, which garnered rave reviews from music critics, and rightfully so.

When asked if she has a personal favorite song on the album, she responded, “Actually, I love them all. We allowed Columbia to choose the single they wanted to release.”

Regarding her plans for the future, Love, hinted that she will be working with her producer Stevie Van Zandt for two more albums. “Stevie loves what he does, and he loves to produce me, so that makes it great and fun,” she said.

Each day, Love is grateful to God that she is still able to do what she does at the age that she is in. For Love, the key to longevity in music, is the love of the music business. “You have to love this business to be in it, because it has a lot of pitfalls. Every day may not be great, but we are supposed to be great, and we try. The best thing is to have that love and spirit in you and the people that you perform for,” she concluded.

For her fans, she concluded, “Keep coming and seeing me, cause the more you come, the better I get.”
