article imageReview: Country queen Reba back with stunning new album 'Love Somebody' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Apr 14, 2015 in Music
Country music queen Reba is back with her beautiful new studio album "Love Somebody," on her new label, Nash Icon Records.
It opens with her upbeat and spitfire lead single "Going Out Like That." She collaborates with Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland on "Enough," and they both produce a true vocal event, filled with soaring harmonies and high notes.
Reba nails the bittersweet Brandy Clark-penned ballad "She Got Drunk Last Night," and she changes the pace with the uptempo "Livin' Ain't Killed Me Yet."
"That's When I Knew" is a superb ballad, which has a classic Reba feel to it, featuring the songstress' incredible vocal range. "I'll Go On" is yet another piano-driven gem. "Until They Don't Love You" has a bluesy feel to it, with soaring harmonies.
"Promise Me Love " is a highlight track, which deserves to become a single for the country superstar in the near future. "Just Like Them Horses" is a prime example of a vocal that showcases her ethereal voice.
The title track "Love Somebody" is a spitfire tune, and it is an added treat of hear Reba's version of Martina McBride's poignant "Love Land." It closes with the Celtic-sounding "Pray For Peace."
The Verdict
Overall, Reba proves that she is like fine wine of this collection, where she only gets better with age. She deserves to be nominated for "Female Vocalist of the Year" at the upcoming Country Music Association (CMA) awards, at the very least. This project is too remarkable to be ignored for award considerations. It garners an A rating.
